July 18 Construction Update
7.18.08, 5:26PM CST in Construction

A major milestone has been passed in the construction of 565 Quincy--the 18th and final floor has been poured and the structural steel is completed. In layman's terms, this means that an 18-story building now stands where a 7-story building once stood. "The progress being made on the building right now is very exciting," said Liz Brooks, Director of Marketing and Sales for 565 Quincy, "because it is actually visible from the street."

Beyond the height of the structure, there are many other noticeable improvements. 98 percent of the balconies have been hung, which is every balcony except those on the eighth floor facing Jefferson and facing Quincy. The vintage brick framing the bottom seven floors has been cleaned and sandblasted, restoring the vibrancy of the existing architecture.

Teams are hard at work inside the building too. The parking ramps on floors 1-4 have all been poured and the lighting is currently being installed. The plumbing is almost completely roughed-in from the basement through the lofts on the seventh floor. The concrete for the stairwells between floors 5-12 has been poured and the stairwells between floors 12-18 are currently under construction. Electricians are working to bring power to the roof.

Residents of 565 Quincy will begin moving into their new homes this winter.
